Developing Culture, Recreation and Sport with Confidence

Community culture, recreation, and sport groups are the heart and soul of rural Saskatchewan. They have a long history and make a strong impact … when things are working. The reality is community groups struggle to find volunteers, there is never enough funding, and navigating the provincial culture/recreation/sport system is complicated.

We can help:

• Identify training, opportunities, and partnerships to deliver local programs.
• Connect with provincial culture, recreation, and sport programs and governing bodies.
• Find funding opportunities.
• Support volunteer development.
• Refine board best practices.
• Support your unique challenges.

Every year, our Community Consultants meet with community leaders, volunteers, and organizations leading culture, recreation, and sport programs and activities. We focus on three easy topics for discussion, where you are right now, where you want to go, and how we can help you get there.

You could struggle, letting your group face challenges alone or dissolve your organization because it doesn’t feel like a future is possible.

Book a meeting with one of our Community Consultants. We can meet one on one, with your board, with your group, or with lots of community groups. We’ll drive to you! We’ll even bring cookies. We can also meet virtually (cookies not included).

Many organizations are operated by a single dedicated staff member or volunteer who wears many hats. We want to better understand the realities of running a one-person organization so we can identify common challenges and explore ways to better support you.

What a great afternoon in Vanguard. South West District really appreciated visiting.

We learned about how busy the pool is and how they were able to open even earlier this year before school was out in June.

We learned about a successful fundraiser being planned for the spring. We talked through some new programming ideas and ideas on utilizing a facility year-round.

Vanguard has quite a few children in the area and the school population continues to grow, which is great to hear!

We had a great visit in Avonlea, starting with the opportunity to experience the Avonlea Badlands before sitting down with members of the Museum Board to learn more about the work happening at the museum.
