2021 Get COVID-Creative Fund

Developing culture, recreation, and sport in the new year!

The South West District has a small funding pool available to develop culture, recreation, and sport in our communities.

Who can apply?

Funding is open to groups or communities (under 2500 population) in the South West District. Click HERE for a map of District boundaries. Different groups can apply from the same community if the projects are different.

What can the funding be used for?

Requests for new or improved initiatives that develop community culture, recreation, and sport (within COVID safety guidelines).

How much funding is available?

The South West District will contribute up to $500 per project. One application per community or group.

Ineligible Expenses
  • Applications received less than 2 weeks before the event/project/training are not eligible.
  • Funding can not be used for capital expenditures, wages, alcoholic beverages, cash prizes, or food expenditures.

SWDCRS 2021 Get COVID-Creative Fund is available until the funding pool is exhausted. Please check with your Community Consultant to confirm funding availability.

Important Dates
  • Applications open January 4, 2021.
  • Applications must be received at least 2 weeks prior to the project.
  • Projects must be finished by March 22, 2021.
  • Follow-up email reports must be received by Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

You will receive an email acknowledging your application and another informing you of your results, within one week.

HOW TO APPLY

Please answer the following questions, in a Word document, and email to your Community Consultant at least 2 weeks prior to the project start date.

  • Please tell us the name of the group making the application and the name of the main contact person.
  • Please tell us about your project (maximum 150 words).
  • Please explain how this project will develop culture, recreation, and sport in your community.
  • Please tell us your project objectives.
  • Please tell us how you will adhere to provincial COVID safety regulations, even as they change.
    • Failure to follow provincial COVID safety guidelines will disqualify the applicant from receiving funding.
  • Please provide a brief budget.
  • Please provide a schedule for the project.
  • Please tell us how you are going to acknowledge the District’s support.

PLEASE NOTE: Successful applicants will be required to sign a COVID-19 Waiver before being approved for funding. The waiver will be emailed to each applicant if pre-approved for funding.

PAYMENT and FOLLOW-UP

Payment will be made by reimbursement after receiving a follow-up email report that includes:

  • Proof the project took place. (poster, pictures)
  • Answer: How did your project develop community culture, recreation, or sport?
  • Answer: How did you follow COVID safety guidelines?
    • Failure to follow provincial COVID safety guidelines will disqualify the applicant from receiving funding.
  • Answer: What successes did your community or group experience because of this project?
  • Answer: What challenges did your community or group overcome because of this project?
  • Answer: Did you meet your project objectives?
  • Answer: Did you spend your budget as planned?
  • Answer: What were the participant numbers, demographic details, etc.?
  • Answer: Was your project a success?
  • Please include a photo of how you acknowledged the District’s support.
